Monday. September 28. 2015-Week 59

Helping a sister to rebuild her roof.

Hey Guys

Well looks like you guys had one heck of a week back home!! DC looks amazing!! I would love to go and check it out some day but I'm glad you guys got to see it and experience all of that history and then watch BSU kick some butt!! Tater looks like you had a great time at HoCo or whatever it's called haha and I like the new look of the strechy shorts on the longboard haha!! I was also super happy to hear about James Eldredge!! Getting himself out on the mission!! He emailed me and told me about it and I was so happy. Great kid and going to be a great missionary.

So this week I am a little short on time but I'll give you a rundown of everything that is going on. First off I have a new companion. His name is Elder Quispe and he is from Cusco, Peru. He is 22 and is very different from Elder Garay. He really doesn't ever talk haha. Like when you talk to him he will talk but if you don't have something to say to him he is perfectly happy staying silent. It was sorta wierd the first few days but now he is getting more used to me and talking a little bit more but I'm just gonna have to open him up and get him talking. We are both the zone leaders here in Sullana. But he really is a great teacher and a great missionary and I am really looking forward to getting to work with him more in these next few months. He has 20 months in the mission so this is also going to be his last area. He has been a member his whole life and before his mission he was in the military. If you have more questions about him I'll answer them next week.

This week here in my area we built the roof of a house. So this huge storm is going to be coming through so we have been asking members if they are ready for it and one hermana told us no. So we got a group of missionaries and members and we worked from like 7 in the morning until about 8 at night taking off her old roof and putting on a new one. Man that was some hard work. In this mission I have learned some serious construction skills that will help me when I want to build my own house in the future haha. But it was a great feeling to see how happy she was with our work and now she will be ready for el NiƱo!!

This week we figured out a plan to get Karen and Ivan married and also the Familia Giron!! We are going to be presenting it to them tonight so well see how it goes!! Pray for them for us and also pray for Hermana Victor Atoche, Roberto Valcasar and the Familia de la Cruz!!

Scrip of the week. Job 1:21

Thats all for now. I love you guys and I thank the Lord for you daily. Hope you have a great week and enjoy conference.

Much Love

Elder Wilson

Monday. September 14. 2015-Week 58

The crew.
Mi Familia!!!!

What's up family!? Well let's just start out by saying that I am tired, like dead tired haha. Last night we got the news that we could move back into our other apartment which was like music to our ears. So this morning we got up at the butt crack of dawn to go and work out so we could get back on time to start our moving process and let me tell you it was quite the process. Those fools that did the construction basically didn't clean anything!!! So we spent hours this morning cleaning floors and walls and the bathroom and windows and everything before we could even get started but eventually we got it all done and started moving. We haven't finished it all yet but we are close. During the move we were getting ready to move our fridge (which is a heavy sucker) and Elder Garay told me "ok Elder Wilson you can move it by yourself and I'll open the doors." So he took off to open the doors and I had to move the fridge by myself hahaha it was not the funnest thing I have ever done. I smashed fingers, toes and also my face between the wall and the fridge but eventually I got it upstairs and while I was dying and sweating Elder Garay was like "ok ready now you have to move the dresser hahahahahaha" I almost attacked him hahaha!!! So ya we are now back in our much better room.

Freaking I like BYU and all but they need to stop beating up on my teams!! First Nebraska and now BSU. But hey looks like they are going to have quite the season!! Also you sent me that BYU lax race to the Y post. I am going to win that sucker when I get home!!

This week was a little rough to be honest. One of the missionaries in our area had to leave for medical reasons so another Elder was alone and had to stay with us the whole freaking week!! There are perks of being a zone leader but there are also some things that just bite haha and one of them is when you have to work in a trio for a whole week!! I didn't think it would be that hard but it was. He wanted to work in his area and we wanted to work in our area and the members couldn't go on visits with us and wow it was a crazy week. But the good news is that Elder Machaca now has his new companion and we are back to working just us two. Now I understand why it is written in D and C that we should preach the gospel 2 in 2 haha!!

So all of our investigators are going great right now. The Familia Escovar is learning and loving every second of our visits but we did find out that thier daughters study in a nun school and they study sunday in the morning!! They want to go to church with us but they just don't know what to do with their daughters and this school. I told them to pull their daughters out of there and get their butts to church and I think they are going to do it but it is just a rough process. Pray for them!! Also Hermano Orlando has a  baptism date and also Hermana Karen. Hermana Karen and Hermano Ivan (a member of the iglesia and her husband) are planning on getting married this week!! That would be  a huge answer to our prays so pray like crazy for them!! Those are the big things going on in our area right now.

So I don't know if it is true or not but all of the people say that there is a huge storm coming our way here in Peru. I guess they say that it only happens like every 12 years but it destroys everything and the streets turn into rivers and people lose their homes and crazy stuff like that. They said it should be coming in like this next month. So we have been doing a lot of service for people helping them get ready for this craziness. I have been fixing roofs and moving in mountains of dirt and also forming groups in the church that are like ready to act in any moment when this storm comes but it has been awesome!! It just makes me think of the scripture in Mosiah 2 that says when we are in the service of our fellow men we are only in the service of our God. I have felt that more than anything in this last week!! We as missionaries are not only called to preach the gospel but we are called to help the children of the Lord in any way that is possible. Whether by preaching or serving they can feel our spirits. I just love being a missionary so dang much!! I have such amazing opportunities every day to lose myself in the service of my Lord and Savior and to really help these people. I know that I have been sent to this area of the world for a reason. It is hard and hot and ugly and nasty but I know they need me and I am 100% sure that I need them. If there is anything that I can say to you guys it is to just LOSE YOURSELF IN THE SERVICE OF THE LORD because if we do all other things will be taken care of for us. So start searching at home, at school, at work, at sports, in the church and everywhere else because there are people that need you!!

Ok I have got to go right now because we still have to go shopping haha but I love you guys sooo much!! Dad and Tate I did read your emails but I have no time because we started late today but I'll write you guys next week!! Keep being awesome, keep working hard and always put all of your trust, time and abilities into the service of the Lord and He will bless you all beyond belief!! The Church is True!! Talk soon!!

Much Love

Monday. September 7. 2015-Week 57

Beach pic with President & Sister Rasmussen.

Mi Familia!!!

Well this week was amazing but man.....I have been a little miserable waiting for the college football highlights!!!!! I was talking to another Elder a few days ago and he started talking about football and then I remembered the BYU Nebraska game and wow I cannot believe how that game turned out!!!!! That really is the game of the season and I didn't even get to see it!! But thanks for all of the updates but next time I need to see the top 25 list please:)

So it sounds like all is going well back at home. School and work and football haha I can't stop thinking about football. Also room changing and Tate going on sweet dates!! Even samarii classes hahahaha you guys just never fail to suprise me!!

Thanks a lot for bringing in all of those names to the temple this week because it is really helping us here. These people are amazing and they are really starting to progress. Hermana Karen and the Familia Giron both went to church this week!!!!! I was sooooo happy to see them!! Now they are just going to get married here in these next few weeks and BAM time to baptise!! We also came across 11 new investigators this week!!! Usually in a week we find like 5 to 7 new people that want to listen to us but this week we found 11 and they are all amazing!! They all basically said that they know what we are teaching is true!! Please pray especially for Hermana Karen and they Familia Giron and the Familia Farfan Escovar and Hermano Orlando and Richard Cornejo please!!!

Hey also the USA soccer team beat the Peru soccer team this week and the whole country went crazy and I just made them all mad because I'm from the good ole USA hahahaha!!! Awesomeness!!

So you asked me if I am always happy and if sometimes there are hard things here in the mission so I am going to respond to your question with another question. Was it ever easy for Jesus? Was it easy for Him to preach the gospel or was He hated and attacked for it? I will never say that I am any where close to Jesus because in this life I will never be but I represent Him in this area of the world. The mission is the hardest thing that I have ever done but I love it and I show all the people how much I love it because I love my Savior. He would never get down and He would never look for the negative so I never get down and I always look for the positive to be more like Him and to complete my calling with honor. Hope I answered your question.

So this week was crazy. We had a big meeting with the Rasmussens for all of the leaders in the mission so thats the picture you saw, we had to split up to work with a few missionaries that needed a little bit of help, we had to plan a bunch of stuff for the zone and then Elder Garay and I had to teach a whole reunion to all the missionaries in our area for like 4 hours haha. Our schedule kept us much more than busy this week. On top of it all we are still just running around like crazy trying to teach all of these people and it is getting dang hot once again!! I am talking like once you step out of the freezing cold shower for like 2 minutes you are already sweating like a dog once again haha. Gotta love Peru!!

Today we went to the beach to play football and to hang out and stuff like that and it was super fun. Also the Rasmussens had their son come out and he was there with his wife and they were super awesome!! They only bad thing that came out of it was that I forgot to put sunscreen on my feet so only my feet got burnt but now it kills to walk hahaha Im so dumb!!

So just wanted to share one experience with you guys today. This week we came across a new family named the Familia Farfan Escovar. We met them because one night we just had a feeling that we should knock their door so we did. They came out and let us in and we taught them a little bit about the church. They were super interested and we were stoked about that because they are a whole family (Dad, Mom and 3 kids!!)!! So we went back for the second visit and we had something planned to teach to them but they were having some problems in the family so when we were listening to what they were saying the Holy Ghost was basically screaming in my ear to change the lesson and to teach the Plan of Salvation. So I changed the lesson and my companion wasn't 100% sure about it at first but we just kept on teaching it because I could not deny what the Spirit was telling me. We finally came to a very important part in the lesson and I taught it and bore my testimony and the mom just started crying like crazy and the dad was totally over come with the spirit and it was just such a special moment. They both told us in this moment that we had answered their questions and they knew what we were teaching them was the truth. So just something to remember. When the spirit is whispering something to your heart, no matter how crazy it may seem, just do it and you will be blessed in amazing ways.

So that's all for this week. Just want to thank you guys for being so dang awesome and for all of your prayers. Keep up the family reading and praying and never forget what the most important things are. Love you all a ton!! Always praying for ya!! Talk to ya next week!! Send me football updates!!!!!!

Much Love
